L'objectiu principal d'aquesta pràctica és observar el comportament dual de la llum, d'ona-corpuscle. Per tal de visualtitzar aquesta doble naturalesa de la llum disposem d'un laboratori per dur a terme el que molts físics consideren un dels experiments més bells del món: l'experiment de la doble escletxa de Young. Per acabar es planteja també la versió quàntica del mateix experiment, és a dir, es plantja a l'alumne quin és el comportament de la llum si disposem d'una font capaç d'emetre fotó a fotó.
