Apps are dedicated software tools that help students in their inquiry learning tasks and help students to create hypotheses, design experiments, make predictions, formulate interpretations of the data, etc. Other learning apps present students, for example, with a quiz or allow students to view online teacher feedback. The apps can be combined with an Online Lab to create an Inquiry Learning Space (ILS). Learning Analytics apps give teachers an overview of students’ progress in the ILS.

If you select apps in Arabic, the descriptions on this website will still be displayed in English. However, when you include the app in an ILS and change the language setting of the ILS to Arabic, the app will be displayed in Arabic within the ILS.

The Hypothesis Tool helps learners formulate hypotheses. Predefined domain terms can be combined to form a hypothesis, using drag and drop. Learners can also add their own terms using the Type your own box. As a teacher you can change the configuration of this tool.
The Experiment Design Tool (EDT) supports planning scientific experiments and recording the results observed. Learners can define several experiment designs from the given set of properties and measures, and enter the values obtained from the corresponding experimental trials.
In the conclusion tool the learners can check whether the results of experiments in the form of data graphs and/or observations support their hypotheses from the hypothesis scratchpad or are relevant for the questions posed in the question scratchpad.
The Data Viewer provides features for learners to organise and visualise the data from experiments. Data sets can be presented in different ways, e.g. as a bar chart, scatter plot or line chart. As a teacher you can change the configuration of this tool.
The Question Scratchpad helps learners formulate research questions. In addition to free text editing, pre-defined domain terms are offered to support them. As a teacher you can change the configuration of this tool.
The table tool lets learners fill text or numbers in a table. You as the teacher, define the rows and columns of the table.
Chempy is a tool specifically designed to enter and check chemical formula using the standard notation of using subscripts for coefficients and superscripts for charges. Teachers configure Chempy by giving the formula (e.g., Na+ + Cl- -> NaCl) that students have to enter.
The GoModel modelling app allows you to create models and simulations. It can be used in various scientific domains to investigate complex phenomena. GoModel is based on the System Dynamics modelling language with stocks, flows, and feedback loops.
The viewer displays the content of another app in the ILS. It prevents the student from having to go back and forth between different phases, in order to consult an earlier result.
