Description

This ILS is called "geometry in Nature" as a reference to a work of Mandelbrot about fractals,
indeed, these shapes are erywhere : nature, design, computer science... they disturb the non fractal geometry, fractals coudn't be studied until we had programming tools. In this ILS, we will particularly investigate on the shape of the lung, why is it so interesting ?

Students will program on python blocks to recreate the shape of the lung, at different levels ( level 1 to 4 with some hints ) during the maths week in France. They will also compare some ratios related to the lung, and try to find which sphere has the same property.

Prior Knowledge Requirements

the use of blocks to code as scratch or blocky trinkets ( coding Python with blocks )
the area and the volume of a sphere
