This inquiry activity guides students to study photosynthesis in plants through collaborative learning. It begins with a Demo phase where a teacher demonstrates to students how to use and interact with a collaborative lab (see the Collaborative Seesaw Lab for more details about how this activity should be organized). The ILS then proceeds to the topic of photosynthesis by first including a collaborative lab where students control different variables in the same simulation and must jointly decide how to answer their given questions (see Collaborative Rate of Photosynthesis Lab). Finally, the ILS includes the Rate Of Photosynthesis Lab so that students can explore how light intensity and temperature affect photosynthesis in plants.

This version of the ILS is called version A and should be assigned to a student who will collaborate together with another student using version B of the ILS.
