Description

In this activity, students use the Down2Earth Impact Calculator to design impactors that upon striking Earth's surface, produce craters corresponding to some of those found on Earth's surface from previous events. Students will look at several impact craters on other bodies in the Solar System. They will then investigate and identify the necessary parameters for the object to produce the same craters on Earth. Students will record their results throughout the activity which they can then interpret using mathematical calculations and formulae. They can then apply their findings from the activity to relevant scientific concepts such as kinetic energy, work done and momentum.
