Methyl orange is an orange, azoic dye and is used as pH-indicator, with a transition range from 3.1 to 4.4, as well as for dyeing and printing textiles. In this remote lab students can examine the synthesis of methyl orange.
One of the aims of the project is to understand how to make fair’ and accurate measurements. In this lab experiment students have to find out how ‘fair’ and accurate their inquiry was? Do students think their inquiry results are trustworthy? Are their conclusions valid? These are questions that students will answer by critically analysing the article written by the three student researchers. Following this student are expected– in a team of two – to perform a better inquiry.
